Chirping birds, budding flowers, and crazy open air preachers…all signs of spring at the Capstone. For the past two years around the time the NCAA Tournament is kicking up Brother Micah Armstrong visits the University of Alabama to spread his anti-rock ‘n roll, anti-masturbatory gospel. Throngs of students crowd around to listen. Some come to challenge him Biblically, some to make fun, and some like me just to get a bit of comic relief in the middle of the day.

Micah brings his Bible and his Camelbak to the free speech area near the Ferguson Center and begins to condemn most everyone but himself to the pits of Hell.  Micah hates rock ‘n roll.  He hates Hillary Clinton.  He hates gays. More than anything, he hates masturbation.  He refuses to even shake the hand of a “masturbator.”

This guy is totally against any religious teaching I’ve ever received, and is not representative of the true message of God.  However, he has given me a Spring respite from the drudgery of undergrad work for the past two years now, and I don’t know what I’ll do without him next March.
