Armchair Talking Head

The inevitable Eight Belles tribute site is up and running, albeit in crude fashion.

Here’s an excerpt from the site:

I know this statement makes me a giant, insensitive douche, but here goes.  IT’S A FUCKING HORSE. It was sad that the horse died, and I recognize the intense connections some people have with these animals.  I actually really like horse racing, but please don’t turn this into Barbaro II.

I think what gets under my skin the most about these “horse people” is the fruity language they use in reference to the equine departed.  “Run free…in a lovely green clover field full of flowers and butterflies”???  Jesus, who are these people?  If you were wondering where all the flower children of the 60’s went, they’re hapless horse stalkers living in Kentucky with mild knowledge of HTML.

By the way, if you were like me and wondering who the fuck Ruffian was, it appears she is just another horse  that met her maker….like we all do…. except humans don’t get postmortem websites.

That being said, here’s to Big Brown.  An undefeated horse who has a name slightly reminiscent of something I do every morning, and unlike Eight Belles, has a penis.
