- Today has been proclaimed Stan Musial Day in St. Louis and a new plaza around the ginormous statue of “The Man” has been dedicated. Hopefully the pomp and circumstance surrounding Musial Day can lift my struggling Cards to a series win over the red-hot Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
- Big Brown captured the second leg of the Triple Crown yesterday, winning the Preakness going away. As much as I was disgusted with the horse world with the Eight Belles thing, this is a great story for horse racing, and it should have been the headline since the Derby. Jockey Kent Desormeaux barely had to coax the horse to get him to pull away convincingly from the pack. The field wasn’t as impressive at the Preakness as it was in the Derby, nor as it will be at the Belmont Stakes. Apparently the upset special is a horse out of Japan called Casino Drive.
- Thanks to a series win over UGA, the Tide Baseball team garnered a 5 seed in the SEC Tournament which starts Wednesday over in Hoover. The Tide will play Kentucky at 8pm on the first day of play. I’ll try to run down the tourney in more detail before Wednesday.
