A little late getting to this, but my boy Jeffrey Saad was taken down in the finale of Next Food Network Star by Texas Housewife Melissa d’Arabian. I was distraught for awhile.  We even had mexican food in honor of Jeffrey’s bent for Tex/Mex cooking.

I survived, however, and hear the good news:  In a mere 32 days and 4 hours, college football will be upon us once again.  And in the end, isn’t that all that really matters?

Next Food Network Star Finale

Over the summer, mostly due to me being a fat ass and the general malaise that is the two month lead up to football season, the girl and I have become addicted to The Next Food Network Star.  Tomorrow night at 8pm is the season finale when we all find out who Bobby Flay, et al choose to carry on in the path of Guy Fieri as the contest’s winner of a new show.  We’re left with Jeffrey, the restauranteur, and Melissa the housewife.

I can’t begin to tell you the level of excitement around my house.  It’s sick.  We’re completely infatuated with the show.  I’ll be sad to see Melissa the housewife go, but I’m pulling for Jeffrey. He seems a lot more into it and genuine than any of the other contestants have, and Melissa seems to just be a fancier regurgitation of Rachel Ray.

I’ll be cooking up something of my own to celebrate the occasion, and if I can ever figure out how to upload pictures to my mac, I’ll post some.

On a side note, last week’s show revolved around the new Amy Adams/Meryl Streep flick Julie & Julia.  The film releases August 7th and focuses on a woman who cooks all of Julia Child’s recipes.  I have pretty high hopes for it.  (Read: Please don’t be a chick flick.)
